We had a problem with a burned component of an electrical panel yesterday. The electrician said a new panel would be $1,600, his cost, plus labor and take at least two weeks to get here. That would mean that condo would be out of service for at least two weeks. I knew we had salvaged some parts off a panel we had replaced previously. I searched around in the shop and found just what we needed. Then the electrician said it would take AEP 48 hours to get here to turn off the power so they could replace the part. JR has his contacts and got the AEP out here at 9 this morning.
The electricians got to work and by 11am the power was restored with the only cost being the time for the electricians to do their thing. Below is the burned part. Notice the circular burned area in the center. While they were at it, they found one more part like this that looked problematic and replaced it too.
